BACKGPOUND INFaORMAMON: The City Manager met with representatives from Fire Mid -Management group for purposes of agreeing upon adjustments to the Statement of Benefits for that group. Staff recommends and the Fire Mid -Management agrees to amend the Statement of Benefits to include an option for reimbursement to those who "opt out" of full medical coverage. This would allow any member of the group, which is otherwise covered by a medical plan and chooses not to utilize the full extent of medical coverage available, to receive 50% of the premium amount that would otherwise be paid by the City of Lodi for the employee and their dependent for the highest mount under the Health Maintenance Organization plan (HMO). This would not allow individuals without dependents to receive any portion of the premium associated with dependent coverage. It could result in a reduction of cost if employees in the group choose to "opt out" in the manner outlined. It also allows for employees in this group to have the same statement of health benefits as is stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Lodi Professional Firefighters. FISCAL WACT: There is no fiscal impact. As employees utilize this option it will result in a cost savings to the City FUNDING: The amounts to be paid to employees would come from the same budget line item account as used for Health Insurance Costs. es R.
