BACKGROUND INFOWATION: For the past several decades the Parks Division has routinely installed, maintained and removed two portable basketball hardwood floors and miscellaneous equipment that has been used by the Parks and Recreation Department for our basketball and volleyball programs. The estimated value of the hardwood floors and miscellaneous equipment is $45,800. Last month the Park and Recreation Department was notified by Maris Armstrong of the Lodi Grape Festival that they were granted the sum of $240,000 by the Sen Joaquin County Board of Supervisors to install 25,000 square feet of Mondo hardwood flooring from wall to wall in the Lodi Grape Festival Pavilion facility. Staff is scheduled to remove the floors no later than March 1, 2007. Mr. Armstrong will have two months to prepare the pavilim for installation of the new floor. These timelines are critical from our perspective. First, it will be beneficiatio invite prospective buyers to a pre-bid inspection of the urdt(s). Secondly, proper storage will become a critical issue as of March 1, 2007. FISCAL WPACT: The Parks Division historically has spent $15,000 every other year resurfacing the basketball floors. Staff spends hundreds of man hours annually maintaining the two hardwood floors. Actual expenses are not known at this time. We anticipate our budget to benefit from this change over.
