Another item of relevance to the appointment process that I must share with you concerns residency. Approximately sixty percent (60%) of the current Parks " Recreation Commissioners are non -Lodi residents. While we currently allow non- residents to serve, i find it unusual that so many members of the Commission do not live in Lodi. A survey provided to me recently by the City Clerk shows that 32 of 48 California cities require members of "permanent Boards and Commissions" to be residents. Our current City policy encourages the Council 4o give preference to Lodi residents who are registered voters. I hope the extension of the application filing period is not a great inconvenience.
