BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The asphalt materials purchase is needed to perform the annual street maintenance program that is guided by the Pavement Management System used by the Street Division and is consistent with past practices. This is a simple purchase of materialswhich has traditionally been bid on by the only two asphalt suppliers in the area. The specifications are on file in the Public Works Department at the Municipal Service Center. Trucking services will be dealt with on an informal bid basis, as the individual costs will be less than $5,000 per event. This has been the accepted past practice and will allow us to obtain services from multiple sources on an as -needed basis rather than relying on one providerfor the entire season. The proposed operating budget has sufficient funds to cover these items. FISCAL IMPACT: This budgeted expense will assist the Street Division in its continuing effort to maintain the City of Lodi's asphalt paving. FUNDING AVAILABLE: The money for this material will be coming from the Street Operating Budget (2005/2006). lanned Bid Opening te: June 16, 2005 J es R. Krueger, Ana6ce Director QQ Richard C. Prima.
