BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Performance Mechanical, Incorporated, of Sacramento, on February 18, 2004, in the amount of $256,647.00, with anticipation of awarding bid alternates to bring the total to $315,312.00. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by City Council. The contract completion date was July 1, 2004, and the actual completion date was November 12, 2004. The contract took longer than planned because the district was awarded additional funding for the project, allowing additional work to be done. The final contract price was $363,381.50. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price is mainly due to five change orders that total $106,734.50. These change orders include LUSD shop upgrades (to be CNG compliant), methane detection systems, a masonry separation wall between the above -ground diesellunleaded fuel tanks and CNG compressors, longer slow -fill hoses, and a chain link fence and additional emergency stop button for safety around the compressor assembly. Following acceptance by the City Council, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office.
