HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - November 17, 2004 E-06Atl eNDA ITEM Ear(o (10 CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TM AGENDA TITLE: Adopt resolution awarding the purchase of ten (10) Self Supporting Direct Imbedded Steel Poles to the low bidder, Thomas & Betts, Corp., Memphis, TN in the amount of $160,523.80 (EUD) MEETING DATE: November 17, 2004 SUBMITTED BY: Electric Utility Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the purchase of ten (10) Self Supporting Direct Imbedded Steel Poles to the low bidder, Thomas & Betts, Corp., Memphis, TN in the amount of $160,523.80. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On October 29, 2004, six (6) bids were received and opened. The bid results are shown below: Thomas & Betts $146,507.68 ValmonVNewmark $146,764.12 FWT Inc. $158,197.47 Dis-Tran Steel Pole LLC $169,901.28 Sabre Tubular Structures $171,309.57 V & S Schular Tubular Products $192,998.57 The set supporting steel poles will be used to construct a portion of the 60kV line that will connect the proposed W etWe substation to the existing 6OW circuits. The new 6OkV line will be constructed on the north and west sides of the new Lowe's development, and on the west and south sides of the proposed development on the southwest comer of Kettleman Lane and Lower Sacramento Road. The self- supporting steel poles are required due to the lack of available space for anchoring and guying at angle and dead-end pole locations. The original bid has been increased to ten (10) steel pole as the result of needed design changes at the intersection of Taylor Road and Westgate Drive, the cost for the additional steel pole will be $14,016.12 bringing the total oast to $160,523.80. Keeler, Interim City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 2004-243 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF TEN (10) SELF-SUPPORTING DIRECT IMBEDDED STEEL POLES WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened October 6, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. for the purchase of ten (10) self-supporting direct imbedded steel poles, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on October 6, 2004; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder _ Big Amour Thomas & Betts $146,507.68* Valmont/Newmark $146,764.12 FWT Inc. $158,197.47 Dis-Tran Steel Pole LLC $169,901.28 Sabre Tubular Structures $171,309.57 V & S Schular Tubular Products $192,998.57 "Note: Pursuant to design changes at the Intersection of Taylor Road and Westgate Drive, an additional steel pole Is required at a cost of $14,016.12. WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends awarding the purchase of the ten (10) self-supporting direct imbedded steel poles from Thomas & Betts Corp., of Memphis, TN - NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby award the bid for the purchase of ten (10) self-supporting direct imbedded steel poles from Thomas & Betts Corp., of Memphis, TN, in the amount of $160,523.80.
