HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - October 6, 2004 E-06AGENDA ITEM Es CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TM AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a resolution authorizing the non-competitive purchase of mounting pads for transformers, module enclosures and switchgear boxes from ProGlass, Inc., of Wauna, Washington - $12,064.98 (EUD) MEETING DATE: October 6, 2004 PREPARED BY: Electric Utility Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the non- competitive purchase of twenty-three fiberglass mounting pads for transformers, module enclosures, and switchgear boxes from ProGlass, Inc„ of Wauna, Washington, in the amount of $12,064.98. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Electric Utility Department's Engineering Division has issued work orders requiring installation of padmounted transformers and module enclosures at three new residential developments in Lodi, and at a professional office on Kettleman Lane. Additionally, three padmounted switchgear boxes are intended for installation in the new subdivisions. All will require use of the fiberglass box pads listed below and illustrated in attachment Exhibit A for proper installation. Transformer Box Pad Mod. Enclos Box Pad Padmtd Switch Box Pad #TX423820 I #TX484232 I #SG866632 The Engineering Division has also determined that the fiberglass pads manufactured by ProGlass, Inc. offer superior strength, stability, and durability, and has approved only ProGlass pads for use in the City's electric distribution system. ProGlass sells directly to utilities, and is a supplier to SMUD, Southern California Edison, and LADWP as well as Lodi Electric. Staff therefore recommends approval of this purchase under provisions of Lodi City Code §3.20.070, which allows for dispensation of bidding when the City Council determines that the purchase or method of purchase to be in the best interest of the City.
