AGENDA TITLE: Approve specifications and authorize advertisement for bids for 288 watthour
meters (EUD)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications and authorize
advertisement for bids for the purchase of 288 solid-state watthour
meters.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Electric Utility Department's Meter Division has requested that
288 solid-state watthour meters be purchased to provide an
inventory for installation of meters at new residential developments
throughout the city, as well as for replacement of obsolete and
deteriorated meters located during meter testing.
Standard packaging for residential meters is 96 units per pallet. The order quantity of a total of 288
meters will result in a delivery of three full pallets.

EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS
SOLID-STATE WATTHOUR METERS
GENERAL
Meters shall be solid state devices with electronic registers that alternate between segment test
and kWh consumption at a rate of approximately one change every six seconds. Display shall
indicate "kWh" when this value is shown. All meters shall have a glass cover. A label marked
"City of Lodi" and a sequential number shall be factory installed in addition to the following
information: meter form number, class, voltage, wire, type, Hz, test amps, Kh, and ERT serial
number if applicable.
Shipping boxes shall show on the outside the sequential number of the meter contained
therein.

STANDARDS
All meters shall conform to the following standards or latest revision thereof: American
National Standards (ANSI) C12.1.
SEQUENTIAL NUMBERING
Meters shall be sequentially numbered beginning with 38529.
